Tramp - Beautiful home...it does my heart good to see such a fabulous old house not shrouded in vinyl siding and its trim intact. That said, I don't envy you the task when it comes time to paint.

Hoping you've seen the worst of winter...

Healey

Wed. 78/45 Thur. 80/45 Fri. 75/46 This is our rainy season and no rain, we've had years of drought and need a goodly amount of rain badly. The Democrat party which wholly controls this state will use this as a excuse to raise taxes.

Tramp, mate:

So nice to see New England hasn't changed a bit from my childhood.

This robin is about a week earlier than normal for him. He is a scout, and I fully expect hundreds on the property by this time next week, given today is his first day here.

The objective is the pair of holly trees, one of which is a good fifty feet tall, and the berries they currently have in great abundance. This usually happens in the third week of February. For three or four days, robins in great numbers will strip the berries, sounding for all the world like a cheerful church picnic; lots of chatter and song.

Then, as quick as they came, they'll be gone. Silence will return and winter's slumber will continue, but only for another two weeks or so. Then, the robins return for real in ones and twos.

The Stripping of the Hollys is an annual event at Dungfield Manor, and happens with far greater reliability than any rodent could be assumed to provide! Punxsutawney Phil "ain't got sh*t" on the Dungfield Robins!

Everybody sign!

When the Robins come back to Dungfield Manor.......
Quite frankly, I’m against people who give vent to their loquacity by extraneous bombastic circumlocution.

When Tramp said we were just broken old hobos, I don't think he meant we were all stone deaf!

"Everybody sign"?

Sing, dammit!

Yeah, the fingers get out of order....kick into automatic pilot mode...and spell check won't pick that one up.

OTOH, I suspect that a good number here do sing as if they were stone deaf and have trouble carrying a tune in a bucket unless they are in the shower,

I like this Norther Weather thread. Let's sing:

Winter is icummen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm.
Raineth drop and staineth slop,
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm.

Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver,
Damn you, sing: Goddamm.

Goddamm, Goddamm, 'tis why I am, Goddamm,
So 'gainst the winter's balm.

Sing goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm.
Sing goddamm, sing goddamm, DAMM.
That a life will be spent gaining inches,
When this distance is read in miles.

But in only eight weeks it will be:

Spring Tyme is icumen in
Lhude sing, Llawn Mawr
Sing Briggs
An’ Stratton praises yet.
Cursed be Tecumseh.
Sing, mawr!

For Lo the Yuppies hath emerged
In Numbers greater still,
Brin’ forth Llawn
Maintenance
Creating feelings, Ill
Sing, mawr!

Sprae ye Round-up full-lustily
Rejoice! Th’ wilde flowers wither
Blight ye Nature
as ye will
Send snake and frog out thither
Sing, mawr!

Congrats! You'll love it, though a rethink of the exchequer will be in order.

Let me know before the meets happen locally and I'll meet you there; old retired guys ogling Brit cars...

Take heart, lads!

I've been eligible for over a year. Just not ready until I finish a few things to wrap up a career.
