Tramp, mate:

I was wondering to where you had vanished; so glad to see you back. Give a hello to Daisy, too?

Cheers!

Tramp,

Very nice to hear what you have been up to! You have far more talent and patience than I will ever possess. Please convey my regards to Daisy.

Time

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say.

Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, 1973

Brilliant, thought-provoking stuff Mr. Green. It's just ten hours from my front door to Rockland...time that would seem well spent.

‘The sad beauty of time passing’ was showing at Dowling Walsh Gallery until September 27, 2014. Today is October 12, 2014. Your Pink Floyd quote is apropos, time has passed us by.

'Tis good to have you back amongst us here, Tramp! Long missed....

Time? I am the echo of your past; I am returning the echo of a point in time

Time - He's waiting in the wings
He speaks of senseless things
His script is you and me boys

Time - He flexes like a whore
Falls wanking to the floor
His trick is you and me, boy

Time - In Quaaludes and red wine
Demanding Billy Dolls
And other friends of mine
Take your time

The sniper in the brain, regurgitating drain
Incestuous and vain,
and many other last names
I look at my watch it say 9:25 and I think
"Oh God I'm still alive"

We should be on by now [x2]
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la [repeat]

You - are not a victim
You - just scream with boredom
You - are not evicting time

Chimes - Goddamn, you're looking old
You'll freeze and catch a cold
'Cause you've left your coat behind
Take your time

Breaking up is hard, but keeping dark is hateful
I had so many dreams,
I had so many breakthroughs
But you, my love, were kind, but love has left you
dreamless
The door to dreams was closed.
Your park was real dreamless
Perhaps you're smiling now,
smiling through this darkness
But all I had to give was the guilt for dreaming

We should be on by now [x5]
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la [repeat]

Yeah, time!
Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking.

Wayne - I am reading your post on my flip-phone at the Blimpies Gas & Go in Stamford, Connecticut, just a mile or so past the I-95 toll plaza...dang it, I need to read these newspaper articles more carefully...

FYI... a road-trip Down-East is never wasted. They are good for the soul.

Lads, thank you for the kind responses. Healey, give the gallery a phone call, the show has been held over. It is, however, closed on Sunday and Monday. If you need a wonderful place to stay: Oakland Seashore Cabins is lovely.

For me, a trip to Maine is all in my dreams. It would be nice but just is not possible.

Roger,

I have had the pleasure of a couple of excursions into Maine, but was not able to get farther North than Portland. A friend of mine from Massachusetts accompanied me on one of those trips and commented that the Downeasters considered anything South of Portland as Northern New Hampshire.   (It is a bit Touristy and commercial along the Southern part of Rt 1)

Toll plaza? I thought the tolls on 95 in CT had been removed years ago.

I remember going outside for the paper one morning, and hearing this very odd breathy whoosh sound behind the house.

Then I hear a voice very plainly wishing me a good morning as the basket of one of those hot air balloons missed the peak of the roof by only ten feet or so, inches if I was given to exaggeration in my story-telling.

It rather took me by surprise as I hadn't had my morning cuppa; whacking huge thing up close...
