Healy,

That was a very excellent photo story, from the old lime kilns to the modern Heidelberg plant with its huge towering lime kilns and the Maryland-Midland-Railway that serves the cement plant. It took me a while to realize how well you put that together. Well done.

If anyone wants to fly over the Heidelberg plant to view how large it is, the Google Earth location is 39° 33' 11.07" N 77° 10' 22.76" W.

Here is an aerial view of the dome you mentioned. You can see Heidelberg is burning coal to supply heat for calcination of limestone, just as was probably used in the old lime kilns.

Wow...thanks for that Wayne. That puts a whole new perspective on the size of their plant.

It's interesting, forty years ago ninety percent of the cement that was shipped out of there went by truck. There was a trucking company located in Union Bridge (Hahn) that handled nearly all of the haulage. They are still there, but now a high percentage of the product goes by rail...I rarely see those big dry-cement haulers on the road anymore. You can see a long string of MM covered hoppers in that Google shot.

I saw a car yesterday at the junkyard that I think had been hit broadside by a train. It was completely caved in to the center of the car.

Social Security benefits will increase 1.5% next Jan. Food Stamps receipts have gone up 30%.
I'm going shooting in a hour.
There is a big sand and gravel mining pit and cement plant near where I was at the junkyards yesterday. A lot of big trucks all over in this industrial neighbor hood and I'm sure Calif, wholly controlled by the Democrat party has plenty of controls on the cement plant and its still dusty all over in this area. I'm glad I don't live there.

If George Zimmerman changed his name to Bengausi the media would never mention his name again.

That student wrote something else, here, as the first thing that came to mind, but then erased it. I can't figure it what it was, which would be interesting, too.

What does the kid plan on doing with the Zucchini? Did he first write radish, although he spelled it with two Ds, which is how it sounds. I guess he decided a radish didn't quite have the length and girth he was dreaming of.

I can clearly see "Redd - - - nie"
Can you solve the puzzle now?

My mind ran wild trying to see a letter after the second "d." I came up with Redd Johnie, $6.99, but can't imagine what a Redd Johnie or Redd Johnnie might be.

Ooohhhhh yeaaaaaa, Johnny Walker Red, Johnny Walker Black, etc. Yep! I'll bet you're right. I'd never have gotten that, so I figured I'd tempt Doc Wayne who would surely extrapolate well from the available data.

Yet, Tramp, you turned out to be the great extrapolator (unless Doc Wayne deliberately left the door open after walking right up to the correct choice and waiting... :? ) hhhhmmmmmmm......
