The best thing about my layout is that it has kept me busy and helped keep me happy.
I run trains a little every day.Sometimes I find some little thing to do or add.
Some days I may spend five minutes working on it and others over an hour.
I don't have any super detailed anything.I just don't have the interest or the skills
and fingers to do that kind of work.I do greatly appreciate what others have done.
I see buildings in O scale and smaller with interior detail that includes food on the table
with silverware and am really impressed by the talent that it takes to do something like that.

The last several years, I seem to be attending more and more funerals, as a proximate generation of family and friends is fading away. Each time I endure a loss, I am re-amazed at the fragility and brevity of life, and beyond-words grateful to still be on the upside.

When I visit ( a very rare occasion, nowadays) my childhood neighborhood milltowns in the Pittsburgh area (along the Youghiogheny and Monongahela rivers,) my childhood is so utterly and symbolically GONE, with one classmate after another deceased, I sure realize I cannot "go home again" and that everything passes away, even steel mills.

Consequently, my wife and I rush nowhere - absoutely no where. We don't spend time and/or energy being angry or offended at anyone. Why bother? We figure, let the mental-cases rave on; there's no changing them anyway, and the folks who differ on opinion and philosophy or have an outlook different than ours, we find interesting hearing about, which informs us marvelous well. Rarely, do we offer an opinion or viewpoint unless it is sincerely sought and would seem to be able to add something interesting to a conversation.

Introspection has afforded a peaceful and comfortable life. I don't even get irritated on forums, any more. I figure, there's NO altering that milieu to anybody's advantage beyond the bemused witnessing of the ravings of a few stompers and the privilege of making some pleasant acquaintances, and even a couple friends.

Being healthy and cautious (I don't play tackle-football anymore, for example :roll: ) and enthusiastically welcoming the presence of friends into my life are the keys to a happy life, now, I feel, as is the excellent companionship of an extremely accommodating and copacetic wife.

Oh,and I didn't go blind from glaucoma, and I am still peeing well after my latest "adjustments" (a real plus, one comes to discover.) :mrgreen: That's helped with the happiness factor, to say the least.

P.S. ...and then there are the trains, which keep me busy, too, receiving guests and crafting for the York shows and clients.. :D
