Hobo Jungle
Re: Hobo Jungle
Now I believe that.
When did the Pima Museum open? I don't think it was there when I was.
There was a small museum on Davis -Monthan that had what seemed to be a model of almost every plane ever made.
I think planes are like trains.Once you get the bug there is no cure.Trains just got a bigger bite of me.

Roger,
Have you ever been to the Mighty 8TH Air Force Museum down at exit 102? It definitely worth a visit.

Re: Hobo Jungle
I have also wanted to go to that JCB construction equipment factory(?) just north of the Museum and see if they sell any models of their stuff. Maybe one day.
Re: Hobo Jungle
Hmmm.Never thought of that.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Thanks for posting those pics. Never knew there was an intact B-36 outside of the Air Force Museum in Dayton. I still remember the incredible sound they made as they flew over in the late 50s.
Is the B-52 with the hole in the trailing edge between the fuselage and the inboard jet pod the one used to drop the X-15s?

You begin flying with a full bag of luck and an empty bag for experience. The object is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
Re: Hobo Jungle
I remember driving along a state highway along Wright-Patterson when a B-36 was landing .Went right over me and my whole car shook.
If I remember correctly Wright-Pat was the only base in the east where they could take off and land.
You could see that the landing strip that they used there was higher on the ends and low in the middle.

The B-52 under left wing of B-36 Rear View is the X-15 mother ship, B-52A, S/N 52-003.
I have a larger view of 52-003 here: http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh79 ... 52-003.jpg
The X-15 pylon is still attached.

Hobo Dreams?
Sometimes nostalgia gets the better of me. The Dodge A100 COE pickup was such a cool design I want to go find one to restore. The silver restoration (halfway through the video) is nice. I want one.

Nothing like having 100 people chasing your train calling 911, "THE ENGINE, SHE IS ON FIRE!!!"
911 operator, "Your engine is on fire?"
100 people, "No the train engine!"
911 operator, "Where is this engine?"
100 people, "In the middle of town!"
911 operator, "Do you have an address?"
100 people, "No it is moving!"
911 operator, "Moving where?"
100 people, "Out of town!"
...
According to the captions, the volunteer fire department eventually caught up with it after it stopped.
Thank you Tramp. Fine train watching video.

Texas sage (Leucophyllum frutescens) is blooming in Tucson.

Reminds me, I forgot to shave this morning.
