Hobo Jungle
Re: Hobo Jungle
I got an e-mail this morning with an offer for term life insurance, from an outfit with the URL "tunainthecan.com".
Anybody know if this is legitimate?

Fortunately, it's not the windows themselves (aluminum, actually), but the wood framing in between each window.
I'm thinking either same aluminum angle on the corners since that's where he's doing the most damage, or setting up a run of some electric fencing around the windows. Either should be discouraging,

Was it signed "Charlie"?

NIST stored two movie frames in a rubidium gas memory cell: http://jqi.umd.edu/news/329-short-movie ... emory.html
Jonathan Mann was so excited he wrote a song about the movie: http://youtu.be/ChBZUuRVMsU
Just what a hobo needs, a movie stored in a bottle of gas.

I don't understand about the gas memory cell, and probably don't need to, but that song is strange.

Hmmmm.Worked this time.
I'll be honest I am still not sure what I think, of this type of music. Some stuff I find interesting and some not.
I have listened to many varieties and can sometimes appreciate what the artist is doing and sometimes not.

a new big girl
has come to visit
and she looks as
big as the rest.

Wayne,
Where did the B-36 come from and how long has it been there?
I'm pretty sure it was not there way back in 1989 when I visited there.
We did a tour on a bus.No cameras. And that was before all of the strict security stuff.
How did you get so close and get out with the photos?

Re: Hobo Jungle
Roger,
It came from Fort Worth Texas. The Air force became concerned about Fort Worth not taking proper care of it and moved it to Tucson in 2005.
When it arrived it was in sorry shape. The biggest problem was corrosion. Work did not start on it right away, they had to come up with a plan
for restoration that would be approved by the Air Force. Once approved they worked on it for 2 1/2 years, finally rolling it out on July 1, 2009.
I used one of these to go over the fence.
I headed straight for the B-36 because I knew I would not have much time. As I mentioned I got caught and banded, but they did not seem to
realize I had a camera in my cell phone case. I was ejected with my photos.

Re: Hobo Jungle
Yeah!
No ladder was required. I paid $11.75 admission fee to the Pima Air Museum. They gave me the band so security would not bother me (paying customer band.) The band did attract attention. When museum staff saw it they approached and wanted to know if they could answer questions for me. I must look older than I think. Two really old staff members wanted to know if they could drive me around in an electric cart and show me the displays. I am not exaggerating. The Pima Air Museum staff are the best. One of them repaired aircraft before retiring from the Air Force, is a member of the Gadsen Pacific railroad club and used to wait on me at a local train shop (the one at ACE Hardware.) He was there (Pima Air Museum) when the B-36 arrived by truck convoy.
