I salute all the friends I have had the privilege of making here on this unique forum, those met as just words on a page and those I've met in person. You really are a great bunch to be associated with. I look forward to our conversations every day. And thanks, again, for the support during the vision scare. That meant a lot to me.

I don't have the word skills [gift of gab] that many of you hobos have,so I will just ditto what so many of you have said so well.

Mike:

Good to be able to link a face and a bike to the name and the prose!

Somehow avatars just don't give the full measure.

Now, next you're passing through Pennsylvania perhaps you, I, Hev, the Dirt, and whomever else would enjoy such an event should meet face-to-face for an afternoon at Strasburg, Gettysburg, or some such place...

8) Hey hey hey!! Two more photos for the Rogues Gallery! 8)

Mike, is that the 1500? Nice looking tandem!

Sarge, count me in.
I can speak for Hev, too. Given HIS checkered history, he'd be up for anything!

 :D

Who knows? Maybe Mike can swing by and toss the Murph in the sidecar on the way down!

So, let's get a little serious about it and see where it goes. I know I'll be in Strasburg for a 2-rail meet at on the 9th of October. I'll toss out 2pm 09OCT at the museum for starters. I'll be as flexible as I can if that doesn't work; perhaps folks meeting in G'burg followed by an evening of gasbagging and running trains at Dungfield Manor.

Jon needs to "borrow" a Hawk for the afternoon and zip up here before he heads out over the puddle anyway...

Sarge, chaps, no one would like to meet up at Strasbourg more than I but I'm grounded. My bike is in VA and likely to stay there for a while (though I'll rescue her first opportunity I get). I'm currently stuck in NYC for the immediate future with no place to call our own since we're keeping an eye on my wife's mother who needs home help that won't neglect her or rob her blind.

So if anyone is going to find themselves in the Big Apple let me know, I'll let you know when circumstances improve, until then a brief encounter at Grand Central is the best I can do though I'll have to look into what routes Greyhound offers. I've never been to Strasbourg but I'd like to.

Mike:

Family first, mate!

We'll certainly hoist one to you, or perhaps we can coordinate a time to call and at least toast over the wire.

Thankyou. Oh this is very cool, I just checked out the Amtrak schedule and its $100 for a roundtrip ticket from Penn Station to Lancaster which is the closest stop to Strasbourg. That's doable I believe, I'll have to wait till the missus has reached operating temperature before I float this one casually by her!

Any of you PA types within easy reach of Strasbourg or Lancaster?
