I get chills and have more arthritis pain just looking at that picture.

This will warm you up, Roger, Castro District, San Francisco, California, 2012:

Paint scheme is similar to that of the Baltimore Transit Company, off-white/cream over yellow (but none of that green).

Of course. Otherwise you are stuck there for a long time.

Baltimore did use that National City Lines scheme for a short time on the Witts, PCCs and buses. The yellow was a bit more "yellowy" than the car in the photo.
Edit: I am not sure if any of the trackless trolleys ever got painted in the NCL scheme, though.

JSB - I seem to remember the interiors being that sickly green color, but I don't recall a band of that on the exterior. Is my memory failing me?

Clarksburg, West Virginia, not such a big town. I'm surprised it had a system featuring such equipment.

I have several more photos of that system's cars and operations. Perhaps once upon a time there were many more such systems across the country that we have forgotten in our past infatuation with the automobile, etc.

I don't remember whether it was 1945 or 1946 but I do remember that last ride on the local street car line. I was 11 or 12 years old and never liked those smelly buses because they always made me feel sick. Riding a street car was more like riding a train. The smell was a lot different from a train but you did have the clickity clack. I didn't realize I had had my last ride until I saw the wires being taken down. I still miss street cars.

The thing that I recall most about riding the streetcars in Baltimore was the extreme squeal of the wheels in even the slightest of curves. Rounding a street-corner could be deafening.

Take out the horses, wagons and buggies and substitute motor vehicles from the 1930s and 1940s and I remember that scene.
The buildings, even the clothing from a distance hadn't changed much.
