Pretty interesting picture - looks like someone penciled in a trolley pole and line, very faintly.

I had to look up Fairwater, Wisconsin. Looks like it is/was a pretty small town (current population just under 400). According to the Wik, Fairwater was home to the Fairwater Hemp Company until 1931. Doesn't mention much else. I guess you worked at the hemp factory all day, then bought yourself a couple of bags of Doritos and road the trolley all night.

I look at this site pretty regularly. I most often do not have anything worthwhile to contribute especially when viewing the quality of the photographs and modeling. But please know things get looked at.

A 1500-volt direct current four-motored electric locomotive, one of six built and delivered in 1914 for the Piedmont & Northern by General Electric:



The P&N operated over 145 miles of line between Greenwood and Spartanburg, then on to Gastonia, South Carolina.

Vaguely reminiscent of some of those old IMP boxcabs.

P&N was an interesting railroad - 2 disconnected segments of right of way..... The Fetters & Swanson book is good for those that want to read about the line.

They could serve as backup for each other, maybe, like 2 pans on the GG1's. Rufus is the traction guy!

Several lines used both; usually the pole was needed for activating switching and signals.

Could be. There were diesels on the PE line in CA that carried poles to trigger signals

Described as a DC 600-volt articulated electric locomotive, aggregating 40,000 horse-power, built by Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, of the same type as those used at the Manhattan Terminal in New York. Designed to start and accelerate a 550-ton train on a 2% grade, no Pennsy type designation is provided.

An interesting photo illustrating the configuration of an early, large electric locomotive. Looks like a beast.
