The historic Boston Store in Chicago was located at the prominent corner of State and Madison Streets, right in the heart of the Loop, operating from the late 1800s until closing in 1948; the building still stands, but the clock is gone.

There's actually a sign in the upper left that reads ...ICAGO....

Thank you, Rufus. Now that you point it out, I can read CHICAGO on the sign.
It is the vertical marquee of The Chicago Theater on State Street.
The theater is still in use today, as is the sign.
