With the holidays rapidly approaching, I'm thinking back to toy trains displayed at the local Joe The Motorists' Friend store:

I miss the old times of model railroading. The HO cars I purchased back then were all kits. My Ulrich Ballast Gondola was all metal and had doors on the bottom that could be opened to dump gravel.

I see a Lionel 6034, @ $1.29, in the December 13, 1956 advertisement. I was in Roundhouse Electric Trains, Louisville, kY, November 9th, looking for Scout engines when my wife said, "Look at this... a baby box car that says, 'Baby Ruth,' on it." I didn't think one of these "baby" cars could look so good after 70 years.

I took it home for only, $10.00.

I did taste test my ZW when I got it. It tasted/smelled like a phenol plastic.

You are correct, I have been missing in action for a bit. Some health matters to get through, before the next batch arrive. I just received my long awaited (like 1.25 years) Pennsy Doodlebug from Lionel. I like it just fine.
