And now for something completely different...
Walking the dog last night, got a good look at the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus:
I wasn't sure what I was looking at at first; I thought it might be a flight heading into BWI with its landing lights on, but soon realized it wasn't "moving". Came inside and Googled it. Very cool; I don't recall seeing planets so close together and so bright before (although I'm sure it happens frequently).
Shot with an iPhone, BTW. Amazing little camera they've put in that damn thing.
Weekend Photos - February 2023
Re: Weekend Photos - February 2023
Been looking at putting together the 191W set from 1938 (226E, 2226W, 2815, 2816, and 2817). I already have everything except except a 2816. I do have this 816 that I pulled out of my grandparents' house a couple years back:
Someone, likely my uncle, had repacked the trains years ago using some bubble-pack and bits of tape. Some of the tape adhered to the 816's body and pulled away some paint on one side, so now the dilemma is whether to repaint it, touch it up, or just leave it alone and give it a good clean and polish. I hate repainting these types of things, figuring every scuff is earned. Stewing on it...

It’s hard to look past the bumps and bruises but the way I see it, it’s all part of the story and nothing stays new forever. Combined with my limited painting skills, it’s a no brainer for me.

I'm with you on those sentiments. Things now have to be in a pretty desperate condition before I go to the paint rack. Sadly, that hasn't always been true.
