I dabbled in N when I was in my 20s, but it was fiddly and never ran that well. Track work is critical to smooth running, that and buying yourself good equipment. I still have most of my stuff; if you build it, let me know. I’ll bring some of the stuff over

Tempting but not satisfying to my model building needs as it resides at the end of eye strain street. I am informed however that today's N scale is far better in every way than it was in our youth.

Healey, what do you mean "If I had the time"? Grin!

The beauty of this hobby is the ability to do something completely new if the genre you've been in forever becomes stale. I don't care how old you are or where you are in life, freshen it up a bit if you truly feel things are getting uninspiring!

I have no regrets starting over again (only two years ago was it?) I want to go work on my stuff, so I make time gladly.

That goes for anyone. If you really think things are a bit old-hat and you are in a genre out of duty, time to change it up!

Today's N scale is 100 times better than something from the 70's-90's. Kato has snap track you can lay on carpet. I'm amazed they place speakers and decoders in these no locomotives.

And that's what I've been told -- still has one fundamental problem.......it's too fecking small!!!

I guess they all have there drawbacks. N is to small for my eyes anyway. O scale especially those big articulateds are so heavy and awkward to get on and off the tracks. HO would probably be the ideal scale. They make nearly everything and anything in HO.

I gotta prioritize - too many interests pulling me in too many directions. I got the tin, I got S, I got N, the ships, the cars, and the house is falling down. I need to shovel a ton of stuff outta here. You’ve seen the place; it’s a freakin’ wreck

I gotta pile of Kato’s snap-track. Sarge was with me when I bought some of it up at Mainline. Looks like very cool stuff, but I haven’t had a chance to fool with it. I need to find a better power pack for N; the only pack I have left today is an Aurora from the late 1960s.

Spent the better part of the last two days tearing down one of these that was stuck in my basement, now sent off to the scrappers:

Wow, that's less than half the size of Z-gauge.

I thought Nn3 was an exercise in silliness, but that's just too, too, too, too, too, too fecking small!!!
