Actually, maybe you could get started on a new trolley for "Traction Action", Rufus. Specs:

  • TMCC controlled (if we used DCS it would kill people indiscriminately (and ignore the cat) while claiming not to be on the track.   )

I'll need it in the next 80 hours.

George

The screen would read "Cat Not Found".

     That's hysterical. You're absolutely right, of course.

  • Laser-targeting capability
  • Variable power (from "stun" to "kill") plasma beam weapon
  • Very loud siren / whistle / horn (as a humane alternative to the above)
  • Clown livery - that's a sop to you.

Lovely thoughts but 80 hours - no. 800 days? Maybe. Need to access a miniature power source for that plasma beam weapon; might be a challenge.

Cats are highly intelligent and have a keen sense for trouble. Switch to MTH engines and DCS. That will scare your cat away from your layout.

It'll just take a dump on the layout then.

bubble wrap. Makes cats crazy. They all reacted differently to it. Yours could become a rototiller when it steps on bubble wrap

Yes, the size of the bubble and the durability of the plastic make a big difference. The cheesy thin crap that the use for "sleeves" for packing books is pretty useless. The stuff that they pack olive oil or other glass food containers may really bug them and get them to stay off the train table. That stuffs hard to walk on for full size humans, slippery, lumpy, not that easy to collapse.

BTW, Marty I love "cat not found" on the remote display!

I am pleased to report, at least so far, the use of a scented "Cat Block" spray is resulting in "Cat not found" on the layout. For real!

Can you smell the repellant?

I know most cats can't stand Capsicum (I don't know if that applies to cats from Mexico). We used to put a drop or so of Tobasco sauce on a rag and then "dust" areas we didn't want the cat to "interact with". Generally they would pull back when they smelled it and you had to wash your hands thoroughly before the cat would get near you afterwards. They also don't care for Vick's Vapor Rub.

When I was in college, I had a girlfriend who suffered terrible bouts of bronchitis. I used to offer to smear Vick’s on her chest...never took me up on it, not once.

Some folks just have trouble understanding the therapeutic value of Vapo Rub!

Yeah, that's an approach I tried as well.

With the previously stated results.

My Irish aunt put a spoon full of vick's and a shot of rock and rye in her morning tea. Every day. She lived to 98. She suffered from dementia. One of the only things she could remember was to make her morning tea a. she was also great people's names and birthdays.

OK, I think we have a permanent solution to Maggie's visits to the Panhandle. A number of solutions (some expensive!) were considered, but we've settled on a gate. So far, Maggie has not proven to be capable to excessive vertical leaps.

Time will tell.
