Lionel voice control operational

Postby KeithL » Thu Jan 21, 2021 1:58 pm

A couple days ago, Lionel released the new version of the LionChief app with Lionel Voice Control (LVC).

So far, I've found it easy to use. To find out what commands are valid, you just say, "help." A window with an outline of commands pops up. The list includes most operations I could think of. Scroll down to see them all.

I'd say that voice control isn't going to be the preferred method of operation for many of us. I don't think it's meant to be. It's meant to be an option that's just very cool and a heck of a lot of fun!

I plan on "testing" it with my grandchildren and seeing how they like it.

Also, I think it's a godsend for people who for whatever reason are not able to manipulate a remote or a smart device.

That should prove interesting.
The owls may indeed not be what they seem but still serve an imperative function: they remind us to look into the darkness.

If your grandkids are anything like my daughter. Voice control wont work. I tell her " sit" and she runs. I tell her " go to bed" and she makes popcorn.
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes

And that's what I was implying when I wrote "That should prove interesting."

As far as the grandchildren are concerned, I just hope they find it fun.

It's with their parents that I hope it "works."

I had trouble with voice control of my cell phone in my car. It had trouble recognizing my voice. But that is OK. I usually don't have a cell phone turned on in my car. I run my trains in the old traditional manner.
However I hope it works. If the gimmicks can attract some to model railroads and especially to O scale in any form let it happen.

I support thread drift.
