Yeah, the stuff is prewar......most likely. However, at least one of the tanks is NOT 700 series. Standard tin tank units. They all used the 2955 frame, which is where seller got his numbers. Rough. Not rusted to Hades, but strip, repaint reletter. Last 10 of these I picked up for $5 to $10 each, in that condition. Phillips head screws on prewar? Stick a set of Postwar trucks, and they're the same.

The Hopper is quite desirable, but that one is trash.
The casting of the body is crystallizing, cracking....look along the top edges. Horrible. Certainly NOT as described:
"2956 has slight warp on one side and some crazing otherwise fine " Hogwash.

But you know, all that seems to be allowed and accepted, all to snag a mark, right?

Caboose....looks rough along the bottom edges. Zamac tended to go away, and if this is same box the hopper came from, I'd be worried.
Couplers are screwed up. Front edge of cupola roof chipped away. Depression in roof where mount lug is.

I dunno. Strip, repaint, reletter, throw the hopper away.....$50?
Dave....collector, restorer, and operator of the finest doorstops
