Folded, spindled, mutilated....MARX

Lithography is gone. As in, non-restorable. Paint? Gone. Shells? Bent. Rusted. Hurricane survivor!
Didn't even say "not tested".
From description:

"Prewar lionel o gauge." Right.
Shipping exceeds any value one might place to "win" this curiosity to show your local fellow train buffs of what NOT to collect. Or pay for.

I wouldn't even pay Bob Ts $.99 bid for it.

I still do not understand how and why people think stuff like this will sell.
I've read all the explanations for it on MTJ but it is still beyond me. :?

It's all part of The Plan!
Started in New Yawk during a garbage collector's strike many moons ago.

Trash piled up on the sidewalks, then the streets. Folks started putting trash in plastic bags, then the bags into boxes, then wrapped the boxes with Christmas paper..with a bow...left them on the front seat of their car with the windows down when they went to work.

Folks thought they were stealing Christmas Presents, but got trash!

Enter evilbait.

Now you can not only get your trash removed, but you can convince folks they've "won" something, and they actually pay you to take the trash....and the "winner" gets to throw it away!

And then we hear "it sold for what it was worth". Except it isn't worth that usually...

The red marker lenses aren't worth at least 99 cents?

I assume Marx first applied the Lithography to the stamped metal, then bent the toy to shape, so a restorer cannot reapply the Lithography using the same techniques Marx did... but couldn't something this far gone be rebuilt (not restored) into an operational piece with custom made decals?

The marker lens may e worth that but I don't live in an area of collectors and I don't sell anything by internet.

Not sure where the $.99 number came from. This clown wants $75.00 plus shipping (reserve).

Anybody know how to actually DO lithography on metal carbodies anymore?

That first coach....end smashed in then rusted.
You're dealing with rust, metal damage, corrosion, destroyed graphics....and you notice the seller doesn't mention running or not?
And there are no underneath photos?

Let's investigate that for a minute.

First photo, shows engine. Look behind the headlight scoop/housing. See the circular depression? That's the motor block pivot.
Look below that, through the windows...what do you see?
Sunlight.

Now you have rust, corrosion, bent sheet metal, graphics....and no motor block.

Lord only knows if any of the other Rare, Vintage, Collectible wheels are there.

Think about what it might cost just for cosmetics. And then motor block...wheels?

That $.99 is where Bob Turner says to start bids.

And another one. Similar useless condition.
At least this seller showed the underside....and the missing motor block.

Probably already sold that off for more PROFIT!
