"special" 675

Typical no tender version. It is also the rare O guage version, versus the more common 0 Gauge version.
Somebody had a can of spray paint and decided to fix it up.
"Starting Bid" at $79. Uh, no.

LH crosshead and piston missing, main rod wedged into valve gear to keep it from laying on the table (can you say "staged"?).
Someone has added 225E, 726 style boiler handrails that extend to pilot deck.
Both class lights snapped off before painting.

So you have a common engine, missing the tender it came with repainted, broken missing parts.

What do you think real value is?

Well. I don't think I have ever seen a 675 in "silver gray" before but that would be OK if repainted was mentioned.
And what is this new piece on it? I don't recall any of my locos having "side arms".
I take it if someone gave to me with no shipping charges. Well maybe I would go a dollar or two. Total.

Someone's attempt at a postwar gunmetal loco. At least they tried to stamp the cab number.

Tested on track and ran in both directions. A little stubborn at first. I did not not to run it too much with that side arm hanging.

Claims it ran on the track......

With the end of the main rod jammed in the valve gear...ya think it ran rough?

NEVER run a sidewinder until you lube at least the brush end of the armature.

Nice 675, with fully intact running gear, no broken marker lights, AND a tender, less than the asking.

I mean, 675's were like model T Fords. Made a million of them (or so it seems).

Nice engines, not as smooth as prewar motor blocks.

Here's one that sold yesterday for $66, intact class lights, intact running gear, WITH tender, NOT repainted into some fantasy colour:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Early-Postwar- ... 3774163675

"The engine has been tested and runs in forward & reverse, but the e-unit is sticking and could use a lube & service."

Honest reporting, it seems, good photos.

Just takes patience and knowledge of what you are looking for and it seems whatever it is will show up eventually........and sometimes even at a price you like.
