I must be missing something.
Plastic POS MARX loco, typically missing tender....."cowcatcher" broken, back of cab broken out on both sides and gone, front corners of cab gone, motor housing rusted, not sure about adherence to anything prototype with a 4-4-0 and two sand domes, one of which mounts the whistle, but ya know.....
Maybe it's a functional smoke unit?
Or one of the rare MARX with drivers usable on switches with wing and guard rails?
Maybe all those potential "winners" have one of these in pristine condition with a clapped out motor block.

Has nothing to do with eBay -- has everything to do with fools and their money and a lack of self control. They show up at every auction; seen them for decades.....

Re: 12 bids so far
Oh, I know. This one is focused on da bait, however.
I had one, exactly one, auction experience, many years ago.
Needed a Ford Courier pickup truck. I would have been able to swap it to a farm for their CJ-5, as they had a bunch of Couriers.
This one probably a power company inspector vehicle.
Something big was in the bed when somebody hit that brakes too hard and too fast. Front wall of bed bent WAY forward, bent cab a bit, but the engine....head and manifolds on floor of passenger side, cylinders full of water and rusted badly, and the bidding just went nuts. I stayed in until I realized the cost to fix it and bid to buy it FAR exceeded the cost of a running, straight, polished unit at a dealership.
ANd I swore, never again.
