So, I really like 225E's. Still have my first one. I look at all the listings for 225E's.

These are pre-war. Box couplers.

"From my grandfathers estate. We are selling a used locomotive and tender as a set. The train is untested since it is coming from an estate sale. However the car does look like it is in good condition. Train will come in original tray, no box. "

When was the last time we saw pre-war vacuum formed plastic "trays"? That in and of itself should be worth millions.

Extremely rare! Interesting shape to the vacuum formed "tray". It's offset for the tender?

From

The first “machine for making articles, such as display covers from thin plastic sheet material” was patented in 1950 and was followed by a series of vacuum moulding machines until a “plastic sheet vacuum forming machine” was finally perfected and patented in 1964.

Yeah. My 225E was Christmas of 1940. Box couplers were what, 1935-last improvement in 1941? Sorta pre-dates plastic vacuum-formed "original trays". eh?

That 225E is at the upper end of pricing. must be the "original tray". Far smoother than the postwar 675 style motors, altho they look the same and are interchangeable. 225E's just glide.

The tenders are really nice. Shorter die cast, with all the railings and steps found on the bigger 6-wheel truck tenders.
