MTJ PostWar Photo Library

Postby rthomps » Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:30 pm

Some years ago, members of the MTF Forum created one of the most comprehensive (and easy to use) photo library of PostWar Lionel in an on-going thread.

I found it to be really useful in that it contained pix of Lionel pieces from all over the country - not to mention from a variety of collections. And that's something that the P/W commercial photo books do not contain. I was able to submit several pix of the PostWar pieces that I have that are original and unusual.

In any case, does someone have that thread on "speed dial"? I'm not having great luck in finding it.

Thanks! :D

What it more likely is, is sad reality. The Net is a very transient entity, and If there is something I really want to keep access to, I save it to my own personal space, be it a file or image. As they say: Here today, gone tomorrow. One of these days it will all fall on it's arse, and then where will we be? I'd rather have a book!

I remember the Postwar Photo Thread well. I think that was purged almost 10 years ago. I do not think there is a way to access old Phpbb board pages once they have been cleared

is this what you are looking for?

http://postwarlionel.com/

If not, try searching archive.org for for the appropriate URL's. It may still be available but at a different address?

Thanks, Chuck! Great and very useful resource that I think I'll have to use, but it's not the MTJ one.

I guess the MTJ thread rode off into the cyber sunset. :(

What I liked about the MTJ photo "gallery" was that the pix came from many, many collections.

Thanks, All!!!

I think Frank 53 removed it when he left MTJ.
Many of the photos were from him and his friends that started a different forum that is now gone. I think.

o-gauge hobbyist, wasn't it? Doesn't work any more. I think it morphed to ModelTrainForum or something.

Model Train Forum was around before 53s forum and still is going.. 53s forum just died.

O-Gauge Hobbyist died as the volume of posts dropped sharply after Frank changed gears in his interests. The 3-rail forum here seems likely headed for the same place.
