Scratched. Stripes rubbed off and faded. Looks like a genuine 2332 postwar (when did TW start selling PW stuff?) but geez.......two grand plus shipping, reduced to $1800? What did I miss on value of worn PW GG1's?

Probably the black color, and that ORIGINAL rare smudged up factory stripe job!

There was a time....42 years ago...when we moved here....outbuilding was gonna be the new layout...sell the steam and diesel stuff, buy electrics....primarily GG1....run catenary....then found out when it rained the outbuilding was wetter INSIDE than OUTSIDE, so never did that.
Still, the question I remember from modeling PRR.....what shade of black is Brunswick Green.....

Black was an oddity, 480 or so made, but this one, 1947, 2332, new stripes, $350. Helluvalot better than that worn out TW at almost six times:

Obviously aimed at the collector nuts who gotta have ORIGINAL! It's an ugly disease and attacks the brain cells leaving the victim senseless at times.

I'm always in wonder at people who spend a lot of money for something rare that only a few people know about or care.

V8, It's a game that can make you a lot of money if your timing is right. It can also make your money disappear if you stay too long at the "dance". I think it's pretty safe to say the TCA guys are on the downward slide as most of the lust was by "Boomers".

Your continued happiness can depend a LOT on how much you like what you collect, and how well your finances can take a hit when the collection goes South (in value). As long as there is "New Blood" joining the fray collectors will thrive. That idea was evidenced by a late friend of mine who described an organization we belonged to thusly: Whenever we joined this organization 20 years ago, we were the young guys.......and we still are!

The collector mentality is something that's pretty well understood - never underestimate them for being willing to part with love or money to get what they want or desire.
