Dave Olsen, Lionel's Head of Engineering announced yesterday on the Ryan and Dave show that Lionel has overhauled their smoke units for the LC+2.0 line and I can assume across the lines. The sample shown smoke every bit as good as a MTH unit. He said along with the units themselves, the code was tweaked.
I hope this is the end of the flashing smoke unit codes and we can now get some serious smoke production. If the sample was any indication it looks like they are well on their way. My latest Legacy smoke units seem to do rather well so maybe this already hit some production models.
If you want to see here is the link to the video... Approximately at the 10 minute mark. He talks about the improvements at the 15:30 mark.

Re: Lionel's Improved Smoke Units
Did MTH’s patent for their smoke unit technology expire?
