Was over a friends layout last month and helped with some ground cover. I think it turned out ok. I really tried to keep it random. He added some trees since these pictures. I'd welcome your criticism although since it's not my layout, there's not much I can change without the go ahead. Can't say I'm overly crazy about the larger "chunks" of simulated wood but everything else turned out ok.

Looks good to me.
Now need the ballast to cover the track and side track and will look perfect.
nice the mix of green and dry grass.

Looks great. I like the "chunks". Used to see it all the time along our commuter line.

Looks good; adding ballast as noted and blending that into the ground cover to make it seamless will add.

I agree with above comments.
My ground cover may be several layers thick in some places.
I just added stuff until I got a look I liked. Some was added
after ballast and buildings. I try to get an overall effect for
various sections on my layout. Realism was not important.

I think it looks nice. Not uniformed, which is important! Now to get some ballast on those tracks

The plan is to get most of the ground cover down on this part of the layout and then come back and do all the ballast at once.

I think you may find that order of activity challenging....

I think I did ballast before most scenery and blended edges.

I agree about the ballast but I'm the worker bee on this project. I'll make it work.

Good luck on that - I just finished the scenery for my entire layout. Hard enough working around stuff, but I con't imagine how I moight have done the ballast last.

Keep updating this thread, please! Good to have someone posting actual model RR'ing stuff anywhere.

I might sneak a photo out of the file to post here. OST? Not this year. Well, I could sneak it in there in parts if I wanted to do that.

I have not done anything with my layout for some time and I have not posted any photos for some time because there is nothing new.

There is now of course a feeling of completion, but then also a feeling of "what next?" so I'm not sure about the nothing new part now that I have gotten to this end point.

But, I also had it Judged for AP Scenery by the NMRA and have a AP Certificate to frame and hang on the wall with my other AP Certificates,
