2025 leading 1949 Deluxe Pullman set 1430WS -


1949 Deluxe Pullman set 1430WS w/ a 2025 meets a 2065 on the point of a freight at the 156 platform -


1430WS pulls into the 132 station -


Did make one change -the No. 30 water tower had to be replaced due to a derailment which knocked it to the floor. ( kids running a 681 at 18V will do that!! The 681 was fine however!) I selected the AF 772 water tower as a replacement. A pair of B&O RDCs roll past the new 772 -

UP SD70ACe 8646 leads 234 through Elliston, VA on the Christiansburg District w/ some Fall colors on display.


While the classic NW signals may be gone, the action continues as NS ET44AC 3678 shoves 194 up Elkhorn grade.

NS rebuild AC44C6M 4038 (ex NS D9-40C 8819) leads 154 under the Avon signals in Gastonia, NC on the Piedmont Division.


Ex Southern/NS high hood GP38, now working for the L&C, heads through Richburg, SC w/ the daily local.

Christmas 1948.

That's a quality photo for 1948.

Shorpy, Kodachrome. It looks like it was a tripod shot. Look at reflection in the window.

It may even be a 120 (it says 35mm in comments) format camera which could explain the sharpness. That seems to be a publicity shot (magazine?) or a very serious amateur based on the bright lights and placement of same. Great depth of field, nice side and accent lighting. Great picture!

I was just checking out that photo on another page. Looks to be Set 2111WS with an additional 2454. Lucky kids

There are also three switch controllers but only two switches that are visible. I also wonder about the bridge and tunnel on the left. There is an RCS section on the passing siding and a "dump bin" upside down near the station platform. Is the pipe car in front of the caboose an "action car"?

I believe the tender is sitting on a switch. That also may answer your bridge question.

Downloaded the highest res version. You are correct that is a switch under the train and there is track going to the bridge.

There are actually four switch controllers. I suspect the fourth switch is out of frame in the foreground at the bottom of the loop. One other odd thing is the lighting (or lack if lighting) on some of the controllers/lanterns.

One wonders how many ping-pong tables gave it up for a fold-away toy train layout. A friend of mine's father cut up his ping-pong table to make a liquor cabinet...when you opened the doors, the inside of the cabinet was green with stripes running diagonally across the back, lol.
