Happy Friday!!!
Worked a little on the ballast this week. Also started construction of the farm scene. My daughter Giovanna is obsessed with cows, so I decided to expand the farm a bit so we can add more cows! Moved the coal loader towards the front of the layout too. Working on moving a few other things around this week as well as I try to arrange things to give better photo angles. Going to be traveling in PA for the next 2 weeks, so progress will be held up a bit.

Thanks once again Christopher. Holy Cow, as Phil Rizzuto used to say :).

Hi George. Probably just spending too much time on work and family :). Hope you are enjoying your retirement as much as you seem to from your accounts of your new home and layout.

Brilliant stuff, Christopher...the ballast looks great!

Took a break this week and refurbished this Tootsietoy ambulance from 1950:

Picked it up at a local flea-market for a couple of bucks. Sanded it down and prepped it for a repaint. I was surprised to see how pitted the metal was...I should have used a filling primer beforehand, but did not:

Found an old rattle-can of Krylon satin light-yellow in the basement (first time I've been down there in awhile). Some Testors gloss-red and flat-steel finished off the details as original. But, of course, never one to leave anything alone, I dug out a 1/100-scale decal set for ambulance markings (I-94 Enterprises) and added a few:

Goes on the layout eventually...

Thanks guys!

Ballast is just kitty litter :)
That first pic really reminds me of something out of a Lionel catalog! Can't wait to see it with some real scenery :)
