Caught the Train Bug Again

Postby ogauge47 » Sun Oct 07, 2018 3:00 am

I got the toy train itch a few weeks ago and I finally fulfilled a childhood dream of mine: a set of postwar Lionel Santa Fe F3s with the 2500-series aluminum passenger cars. I was outbid at the last minute for a set of 2343s, but I found a great pair of 2353s.
The Super O track was picked this afternoon at a garage sale, of all places. I'm super excited to have some trains again, and now that I have a house with basement I'm hoping to build a train layout in the near future.

Thanks! I picked up my plastic totes full of my full-scale trains and more track this afternoon to transfer to my new house.
Thinking about building a layout on top of a few folding banquet tables, with plywood on top.

Congrats on all counts (graduation, house, toy trains). If you can get some hollow core interior doors for cheap (or free), they make excellent table tops. Light weight and rigid. Top with Homasote or foam and there will be little noise transmission and it gets you something to attach track to (one drawback to the doors are they luan skin doesn't do well with screws).

Brother, can you spare a dime?
