That's sweet! Did you paint it? I like the colors - especially of the brick work.

It came Ready To Run, Roy.

I have been gathering "things" for an O-Scale (O-Skale for Dave) British two rail railroad for more than two years.
Ever once in a while, something that fits my Vision for a British layout shows up and I order it.
Such was the Hornby Great Northern Station advertised by Tower Models.

More info.

It reminds me of some of the stations we posted in the Waiting For a Train thread. 8) Will this be an electric, or live steam layout?

Neither, it will be diesel. I am using a Dapol British Railways Class 08 shunter in British Rail Blue livery.

So Wayne, what's the inspiration for this new railroad? Will it run indoors, or out? Enquiring minds want to know...

Inspiration comes from long intrigue with the tiny shunting layouts seen in the United Kingdom. It will be mostly indoors, except for photo sessions.

A desire for something different leads me to the U.K. style layout... the cars are coupled with hooks and chains???

More shock  almost everything comes in pieces, tiny little pieces... like these lights for the station parking area:

Is this a joke? They are in hundreds of pieces. Worse, the pieces are so small they remind me of why I gave up n-scale and moved to Lionel O-27.

I was surprised when I opened the station packing box to find it already assembled and painted.

Even more surprise came when I received this follow up letter from the hobby shop I made the purchase from.

Thanks for letting us know it got there safe and sound, the courier service is very good and a fast reliable service is worth the few extra dollars for the peace of mind that it will get there intact!

As a suggestion, the station canopy comes in a plain grey. In reality this were often painted in different colours (more often blue red or green but was dependant on the region the station was in)

What a friendly, helpful hobby shop. Mail order here in the states has never been followed up (in my experience.)

Thank you for the canopy colour information Roger. Since most photos of old stations are black & white I never considered the canopy might have some colour. Since my only locomotive is British Rail Blue, a white canopy with BR Blue trim would look really good. What a great suggestion.

It does look better I have to admit.

Some people then also paint the doors to match....

This interaction with a hobby shop 5,121 miles away leaves me like this: :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

They may be 5121 miles away, but it doesn't bother the electronic postman. Your project reminds me of the pizza box layout competition on OGR.

Wow Wayne, what a really cool topic. Intriguing! I like the paint jobs as well.

How'd you get the caterpillar to sit still for the dazzle camo work?

The caterpillar took about 20 seconds to cross the six foot bicycle path (0.20 mph) so I had plenty of time to stop the bicycle, get my cellphone out of the seat bag, turn it on and take a picture. Shutter speed of 1/250 second helped freeze the image of the speeding caterpillar.

Wayne, An impressive image, but then, I don't recall any of your stuff that isn't! The idea that it is from a cell phone blows me away. Also find it interesting that you have gone British! I don't know if you follow the 2 rail forum here, but Sarge (Brian Scace) went British a few years back, and has done some VERY impressive stuff!

Cheers,
Rich

PS: Like your little shunter.
