I was in sticker shock at the PRR B60 baggage cars (Weaver tooling bought by Lionel). $160 MSRP - about double Weaver's prices.

Meh.....
Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hopes that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

Re: Lionel Signature Edition Vol. 2
prices are way too high for me. I ordered 3 of the mill gons, but that's it.
I still can't get over the prices.

Me neither. Over the past 5-6 years, I've scored Weaver B60 cars at York from $40-60. I don't see how Lionel will sell any at an MSRP of $160. Even if street price is $120, that's insane. Even $100 is just nutty.
And I hope they're not stupid enough to stamp "Made by Lionel" on the side.

I didn't see anything in the catalog that I can afford that I want.

Re: Lionel Signature Edition Vol. 2
I noticed the Southern Pacific Daylight 0-8-0 set. Even with the hot paint job, it doesn't have the extra valve gear and shiny driver rims. Also, it has plastic trucks. The caboose doesn't look like any S.P. caboose I've ever seen.
The Hot Wheels train is stupid. The nominal scale of most Hot Wheels cars is 1:64, and some folks use them with their American Flyer. That could've been a good idea - but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
$200 for shorty, 18" heavyweights? Not me. At least, the new streamline cars are 21", and have the kinematic couplers. They say the windows are flush, with this new tooling. Let's hope so.

I want one of those hybrids in factory paint! Prices are very reasonable as far as I'm concerned.

I noticed that the hybrid Santa Fe mikados are not being made on a "built to order" basis. I'm guessing Lionel had to buy a certain number of brass shells. I'm not thrilled with the look of those vertical boiler extensions behind the smokebox.

Well let's just feel fortunate it was Lionel who got the tooling. Can you imagine a B60 with station sounds?

I was referring to MTH station sounds which more or less sound like toads on steroids.
