It would be interesting to find out how many examples of the S2 Lionel made over the years, as compared to the single prototype. It was a loco that really caught the eye of young boys back in the postwar era. Man, they must have made tens of thousands of them (my guess).

Here's ours, a basket-case that was refurbished/reassembled a couple decades ago:

The smoke unit needs a rebuild, otherwise it runs like a champ. It needs a nice set of 2400-series passenger cars to throw behind it.
