Okay, with the exception of ballasting or otherwise finishing the base, this is done:



An attempt at a prewar tinplate-style train order fixed signal (semaphore) is included...a ball-signal version remains to be assembled. The semaphore versions I recall seeing locally had two blades and were illuminated. I dumbed mine down considerably, but it is manually functional (akin to the Flyer version from the 1920s).

We ditched the Parlor Flats address, renaming the depot something that felt more appropriate.

A number of items have arrived recently that may or may not require cleaning. It's funny how my 35 years of collecting evolved from a desire to acquire near-pristine stuff, but now I'm more interested in well-worn and filthy. Meanwhile, half the layout has been cleaned off with a ton of stuff stored. Still a long ways to go, but shooting for runtime at the holidays.

Come to Strasburg on Sat. and buy kits from me so you have stuff to build through the winter! I'll have bundles of stripwood, too!

I have an NMRA regional convention next week.....and am looking to minimize my time at that, too.

I’ve been thinking more about one of these. Although 33 years of floor laying has giving me a strong back, sometimes the problem with the back is the front
I think I can get to that area but there are things on the horizon that may require me to get a top side creeper.

A package arrived a couple weeks back...Hondo graciously sent me these Lionel 600-series freights from his stash:



I don't know if these were once from a set or acquired individually, but if together, they are from 1935-1938. Some of these actually predate that timeframe, but 1935 was the first year for the 659 dump and 1938 was the last year for the aluminum-painted 654 tank. The others all fit in that range as well if a set.

I'm especially grateful for the nice 659 dump car, a piece that has eluded me these many years. A bit dusty and dirty, they'll all get a good scrub. The 654 is missing one "Lionel Lines" plate (I'm hoping I have one in the parts box). A number of matching locos are available; they'll look good behind one of the 259Es of that same time period.

I'll post another pic once they've been cleaned up, but in the meantime, thanks mate.

I used to have the tanker and that cabin car although my mind is remembering green(?) windows. Not too many years ago I found two of the tank cars at a show for a buck each. They are in very bad condition and the two together do not add up to even one complete car; however, I got them more to use the tanks as some kind of stationary storage tanks.
