Complete, good runner, whistling tender, window mullions intact, class lights unbroken, not growing green stuff, $75.
Trainz is out of their minds for what they were asking for the basement flood rescue.
Value? Obviously if Trainz gets what they want for that POS, that is NOT the value when you can find a complete good runner for ten bucks more. Trust me, just finding mains and valve gear, and a new or complete smokebox front is gonna hurt your wallet. Probably $40 or more.

I do tend to point out the obvious candidates.

This one tends to show up one seller.....whose photos are horrible, consistently so....and the foil to that.....like Chuck responded, good photos, good description.

If one was the extrapolate the cost to repair the Trainz offering, and the price asked for this latest listing, one would find that A) you couldn't fix the Trainz one without non-original repairs (like window "struts") and B) the actual value of the Trainz unit is probably less than the cost of shipping.

Since we don't know, and they won't tell us, if it runs and reverses, the visual evidence (main and valve rods gone) the chances are the motor block died, and the unit was set up for scrap display.

Then, they'd have to pay me to take it.

Strangely enough Trainz seems to be by far the most heinous despite what seems also be a large following of customers. Very odd. They do list some rather nice stuff, usually though as retail or higher, with stupid shipping rates. Perplexing how they stay in business other than to move volumes of stuff as fst as possible/

Trainz is a major league lowballer and all they can get their hands on with postwar is warmed over junk or the common as dirt variety. The stuff nobody wants when collections come up for sale. They do fine with modern era trains but that's because the trains have no real collector value. It's all they can get their lowballing hands on.

That's their business model -- volume!

They currently have 66,456 listings on ebay, plus they sell stuff thru their own trainz.com website, plus they also sell in regional antique markets (according to another club member.)
