Thanks for the link. I didn't see anything I was interested in but it was worth looking at/through.

Made it race against time.
Once I built a railroad, now it's done --
Brother, can you spare a dime?

Interesting. Absolutely nothing old enough to cause a second look (MPC and FunDimensions too new), but what I don't care for is an auction supposedly this Sunday and every stinking item has a "high bid" and "asking". Means they at the auction house have set the bids up already, unless 150+ folks have already bid on something that doesn't start for two days.

Yes people have placed bids already. That auction listing has been up for a month now. Like eBay you set your high bid and move on. Their setup makes it real hard to bid on multiple items when it goes live. Every 2 months they have an auction of trains. All most all new in boxes or never used stuff. Just goes to show how much product is still around. all sitting under some plywood structure full of dreams and must haves.

This appears to be a perfectly reasonable auction. The trains are displayed well and the prices realized make sense in today's market. In full disclosure, Alderfer Auctions helped to sell a large number of non-train items of my mother's a year and a half ago and they did a friendly, professional job. The staff members were very accommodating and we realized more than expected.

You can follow that link i posted to see the results. Results do not include buyer's premium or shipping and packing. They have changed a bit with covid. It's harder to preview stuff and a real pita to pickup from them. They are more professional than most auction houses.

Used to do a fair amount of buying from Sanford Alderfer back when were dealing in the collectables market maybe 40 years ago.....family auction business that's been around a long time - used to be in Harleysville, Pa.
Just remember: what horses consider play, monkeys consider business, but to Tom it’s all foolery.
