If you had minimum issues with connectivity on the old layout using the techniques you outlined, stick with them. Go with what works for you AND you are comfortable doing.

I did once I standardized on technique. Early on, I got some horrible advice from what portrayed itself as a trusted source.

The track plan is somewhat complicated with several tracks that serve in that capacity. However, none are pure loops.

I will discuss signaling more in the next post.

BTW, this is the test crimp using the Scotchlok IDC 567, 12 gauge run (bus) and 14 gauge tap.

OK, as promised here are the signals:
  • Two MTH PRR Signal bridges with 2 signal heads each. These are triggered by insulated rails and are used as block occupancy indicators.
  • Four DZ-1060 PRR 7-light position signals. These are also triggered by insulated rails and function as block occupancy indicators.
  • Four DZ-1060 PRR 7-light position signals. These are triggered by DZ-2500c switch machines and indicate the position of the switch.

In addition to these, I am planning to use 1 DZ-1010A crossing gate and 1 DZ-1020 crossing signal. These will be triggered by IR detectors.
