More on Lionel HO
Re: More on Lionel HO
Too bad Lionel didn't carry through their prewar 00 gauge after the war.

Re: More on Lionel HO
I don't think OO had much chance against HO.
Lionel OO was nice but rather limited compared to what was available in HO after WW II.

Re: More on Lionel HO
Lionel needs to build some sort of strength in HO, and just stick around. It's going to take a while to live down all their abandonments of HO.

Maybe not if they don't fall into the old patterns that got them in trouble the previous times. LionChief/BlueTooth seems to be winning combination for getting people into the hobby. They are never going to penetrate the hard core HO crowd but that group is not doing too well either in terms of numbers of participants and the average age of those participants. If the new products are a gateway into the hobby AND they aren't so poorly made or so technologically closed it could work.

Yes, the LionChief/Bluetooth in HO should work. We'll see.

Get Thee to York. Plenty Gilbert Flyer there.

I agree with Bob. I saw more S there than I knew existed.
And not just Flyer.

Re: More on Lionel HO
American OO was seeing growth in the Northeast back in the 30's. The scale was easier to work with than HO and it was easier to fit reliable motors in the shells. Lionel OO was near exact copies of Scalecraft and Nason. Lionel even used Scalecraft and Nason models as mock ups in their advance catalogs.
