I followed the Stout auction on and off today, with perchance the slightest intent to raise my paddle. Luckily for my stuffed closets, I did not get the chance.
O scale 2 rail, I concluded, is quite healthy. Lots more interest out there than I can gauge from my very narrow neck of the O2R woods.
Final prices were rather high, for a variety of brass and plastic items. Seems that premium brand, painted brass holds its value quite well, is much more fun than crypto-coin, and you can keep it under your bed. Assembled buildings and track went high (what the heck is going on with Atlas flex?)
Some notable closed lots, not including auction premium and shipping:
Wasatch UP 9000 Dome passenger car $1,700
OVL UP Gas Turbine $4,400
PSC SP GS-4 $2,200
Key ATSF F-7 ABA $3,600
Atlas 7056 Code 148 track 2 boxes 40” sections $600
Congrats to the winning bidders, be sure to run your stuff, but not close to the layout edge!

Beautiful engine. A three unit train with Wasatch cars would put a kid thru college.

Indeed. And not for many decades either, unless you were perhaps attending The Grace L. Ferguson Airline, Screen-Door Co., and Technical University.
There are things known and there are things unknown, and in between are the doors of perception.
