OSW report 2025
Could only attend the showroom for the first hour. I almost always think $50 admission fee is steep but alas I always find some part that is invaluable. The venue was smaller, but there were some great finds. In such a rush that I did not take pictures. One of the real pluses of a West Coast show is finding some truly regional stuff. In this case some Pacific Electric items that are real time capsules. More later. Now I have start yard work on 1/2 acre of grass.

A friend attended OSW and sent me a few photos. I've never been but looks like a good show

Re: OSW report 2025
First time attendee. Wanted to do this show for years and made a late decision to make it reality. The hotel honored the OSW rate when I called-day prior to show-well past the May 4 deadline. Staying at host hotel helps negotiating next year’s show rate, and the convenance factor made it easy.
Traveled from the Midwest to Santa Clara and enjoyed the show.
Lots of beautiful models, great deals, and friendly people. $10-20 freight cars, kits, buildings, parts, some tools (not people, though may have attended, haha), books, and other stuff. Enjoyed visiting an old friend.
Scored a few deals and a great time. Will attend again. Well managed show and organized. Thanks to RM and all his volunteers for their effort.

Thanks for posting the photos Butch, some beautiful models for sale there, the WP is a favorite of mine. I will have to make it out there. Think I can sell that trip to my better half too since I've been hording my FF miles.

Re: OSW report 2025
Sorry to have missed the show this year. Last year was my first since 2015, but I really enjoyed it and hoped to make it an annual event, but life intervened. Hopefully next year.
Seeing that WP caboose reminded me of a similar one I bought at the show last year:

Bob Jarvis of St. Georges. Utah built this. I bought it with the thought it would motivate me to build up an FT set to match. As I recall. Bob T likes WP diesels in pumpkin orange, but brother Pete argues that the as-delivered scheme is the best on the FTs. I don't know if the scheme on this caboose is concurrent with the as-delivered scheme on the FTs, but if not, I am willing to look the other way in this one regard.

You need to thank Aaron Pete, those are his photos. I wasn't sure if he would see this thread. My bad. now I know he would have, so my apologies Aaron.

Re: OSW report 2025
As a follow on to my previous email. OSW had some true West Coast finds. The stack of PE 4x5” negs is right up my alley. I have my enlarger all set up 4x5 printing. The photographer also custom built this steeple cab. There must be at least 100 negatives.

You can lay them flat. Take a photo with your phone and hit the screen three times. Your phones screen will change to a reverse negative. Show how those photos should look. ( note some phones may require a different process)
I spend entirely too many hours a day tying my shoes
