The cab was soldered on, and I removed it for the repaires. I did think to screw it on but ended up re-soldering it. Its pretty much finished now.

Nice Y6B ...
Mine I believe is an early Max Gray ...that was was regeared ( large open gear) ...nicely hand lettered .
Runs well but a bit loud ..needs more exercise...came out of more than 40 years of storage .

Wow! That loco runs great! The hand lettering is outstanding. Do you know who did it?

There was an article in one of the magazines decades ago about a fellow who hand lettered and decorated his locos and cars and he was fantastic. Belonged to one of the larger East Coast clubs. He was very old at the time of the article and passed away not long after.

The hand lettering could be by George Stock of Philly ...he was very well known for his hand lettering and did it for many builders ...in all gauges.

The Y6B was part of the collection that had been in storage for a very long time ...
I was also able to purchase a NYC Hudson & Mohawk also hand lettered ... always a sucker for ( good) hand lettering

Carey In this case the lettering is just decals. The models came from France originally, then to Australia. There Max Grey/KTM but must have been available in France, or shipped from the US to there in the early sixties.There are six locomotives and two of them are brass French prototypes, a 141P and a 231P and very handsome models, and a little better detailed than American brass models of the sixties. These are elsewhere on the forum.

I was thinking George Stock. I had a hand-lettered NKP Berk tender done by him, but chose to eBay it. Got fifty bucks, even with the Stock lettering. Winner of the auction got $190 for it the next week. So much for my marketing ability - trucks were worth fifty.

Very nice model! Consider paint/decals? You can always strip it later if you like bare brass.
