Denis They are nice beefy spicks, I went as far as making my own, but its slow going. I also have tried Peco spicks, wouldn't be common in the US, but eventually ordered Right of Way spicks, but I like those Verney ones. I also tried a Kadee spicker but prefer the pliers.

Dennis --

Are you still looking for spikes? I have a few:

At one point you mentioned Varney HO spikes. I have at least 15,000. Plus, obviously, a whole lot more in a whole lot of different sizes.

Holy cow Jim! you do have a couple laying around don't you! I could interested for sure, not sure I need al of em but who knows lol. The experiment is on going, working on some switches and a crossover currently. Learning what doesn't work so well in some cases too lol. So far those old Varney spikes have been working pretty good for me. I tried some of the newer Micro Engineering spikes, but they are a bit more slender and not quite up to my skill level or more likely my ties lol.

I know it is a bit crude, but seems to track fairly well so far. And I may go ahead and cut the frog so I can insulate it for two rail.

Dennis if you have a Jewellers piercing saw or some other fine saw just cut the wed of the rail where you wont to bend the rail for your points, guard rails etc The "right of way" spicks need a relatively soft tie. The Verney spicks look great, nice and robust. I hate to think how much posting spicks to Australia might cost these days. The postage has gone nuts.
