Dennis Trainz have been trying to sell that for ages at a crazy price for a damaged model. The model was in perfect condition originally and sold. Then It reappeared for sale soon after, but at the same price??? . I guess they came to their senses and lowered the price. It's nice it found a good home finally.
I too bought from Trainz a Min-I-Scale Hudson that was sold, sent back damaged in the same way, but mine came with the damaged parts included. Ive since repaired it. Ill be interested to see how you handle the repair.

A tip for when buying from Trainz: Describe how you would like the item packed for shipping. Be specific and tell them why. I ALWAYS do that and it has worked well for me. What have you got to lose? Tell them why you want it packed in a particular way and be polite!

Yes, that is where it came from. In the listing there was a huge wooden box that the model was presumably stored in by a Previous owner. I suspect that is how the cow catcher and front end damage came to be, ie engine bouncing around in that wooden box. Interestingly, they shipped the engine and tender heavily bubble wrapped in one medium sized cardboard box and the wooden shipping box separately in a huge cardboard box. I am very glad of that. I probably shoul dhave told them to toss the big wood box as I was not interested in it. I might see if Carey has a spare cow catcher or maybe I can make a mold from one and make a replacement or something. It does have a can motor with a rubber hose for the drive and and a later gearbox so I instantly thought of Bob

I need to drag down a DC supply and see how it runs, but it does not seem like anything is bound up.
I might try the Precision Scale cast pilot and see how it looks assuming it will be 1/48 and a little small.

Dennis, Maybe this would be a time to try 3D printing and then a burnout if nothing else is available. Whatever the case, good luck. You did get your wish.......old and broke! Sorry, couldn't resist!

My one regret was that I didn't retain the original K&D motor.I have an other, but both have different worms and worm gear, one you can push down the track and the gearbox will turn, the other has a standered single cut worm, and locks up if you try to push it down the track.

Dennis This is the under side of my damaged Hudson and the repair-modification. The rear is modified, and is the reason it probably didn't break in postage. There is a wedge of brass to which the ash pan is connected and then screwed to the frame. In my case the person that did the modification then machined a semi circle into the frame to facilitate centre three rail operation. I hope this might help.
The front which isn't finished, is a brass plat shaped as the original. I plan to shorten the screws that hold the cylinders inlace, just enough to allow two screws from under neath and succouring that plat. The whole thing is held in-place with super clue at the moment ( surprising how well it works on die cast )

Good thing you own the copyright to those photos, huh?
I was thinking of scanning photos of the MiLoco K5 I did for Frank Thomson a quarter century ago for pasting here. It was a crude model, but it ran like the wind. Painted it Tuscan - Frank sent it back for Brunswick.

Here we go - top is preliminary flat black, middle is Scale Coat Tuscan, bottom is Scale Coat Brunswick with a dash of CNW Green. Delivered to Frank around maybe 1990.

I should adjust the color - Scalecoat Tuscan is not quite that shade of Burgundy. But you get the idea.

That middle one I would have either sent it back or hit it with a baseball bat!

Some nice pictures of the K5 Bob. Ive been trying to catch one of the K5s, by My-Loco, on eBay, at a reasonable price, for what seems a long time now. My expectancy level is pretty broad, and Im happy to do some work on it. Its true there not a model everyone would wont. The Hudson was satisfying to fix up and will have battery power on board, because I don't wont to insulate it.
Im just wondering how the K&D motor responds to PWM power, I might put this back in the model, or maybe there's an outside third rail in my future.
Im not sure how the duplicates came about?
