I guess if the motor runs at least that's one thing less to worry about, something intriguing about these small engine kits.

Y'all missed the most important part of that ad!

Re: "Runs great"…….hmmmmm
and the next most important thing:
I mentioned this in the e-bay thread, on or about 24AUG.
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19540
We had quite a laugh as the moron listed it for $2500.00
"ended", now re-listed.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/165642001426
How does that work in the "it's worth what it sells for" field again?
Then again, if you have two identical pieces, one sells for $100, the other for $1,000, which one tells you actual value?

At least, if it is all there and an A-N Atlantic, his bidding started at a very reasonable range. Check out this mis-leading ad for a $700 All Nation Pacific - ALL of his photos show a more valuable (but not $700 worth) CLW PS-4 Pacific!

While I am venting, last week saw at leat two more sellers separating engine and tender. I would never bid on such a duo unless I already owned the other half. Boo! But sellers are always free to ask $6500 for junk, or split up valuable items into separate bids, if they want. We are free to not purchase.

And then there are these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255730332809
Might actually be interesting in some but not all. Breaking this lot up might garner a few bidders.
And this seemed a wee bit pricey:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/115521809675?n ... 7675.l2557
About 3 times what the last 2-3 have sold for.....but then the collectable market is fraught with unpredictability with small sample size.

Nothing new here. Don't like what the listing says, don't bid or ask the seller a question. Looks like an 0-2-0 to me! Will the seller get all those parts back in the box or will some fall on the floor?

Seems a lot of you have sharper eyes than me, though. I only post these to be humorous, E7. As to the Beaver Creek cars, they are beautifully made, full interiors, great trucks. I sold a three car unpainted set for a grand, if I remember right. 2400 for 8 cars is on the high end but not ridiculous!

It's fun! Pointing out gross stupidity and crass greed is a national pastime!
I mean, he started at $2500.00, mis-identified, clueless.
Japan?
H0 scale?
And to sell something that is opened and spread around, with no warranty...it he gonna find the parts that may or may not be missing and provide them?
For an opened kit, with no full inventory, the $2500 was simply greed. If some schmuck had bought it, I am certain somebody would have piped up with "it's worth what it sold for". Not.
At $120 current, not too bad, except the issue of inventory and parts remains.
BIN at $75, "winner" takes their chances.
Maybe you've not had that happen to you, buying a "complete" kit and find out it isn't.
I have.
Not fun.

He appears to be an estate sale scrounger, as this was stated in one of his other auctions selling a Matchbox construction toy for $199.

Not ridiculous, true, but selling 8 as a single lot limits interest.

Peter, You saw all those LOL's didn't you. That there only appeared to be 2 drivers kind of jumped out to me. Just me, but I wouldn't touch an OPENED kit like that unless it was an absolute steal. Dave may be able to work magic on something like that, but I know my limitations!

I didn't look closely enough. I thought it was a 4-4-0 American kit.
On the " don't buy kits" subject - I have never seen anything packed by Bob Smith of CLW fame that was complete. Now it is difficult to predict whether you can get the correct parts from the new owner - he tries, but very quietly. I would never, ever buy a CLW kit in "as packed" condition.
Now that Martin is back, we need Sarge. I found more bolsters for him.

The last kit I bought was marked incomplete but I bought it for the parts and spent a whopping $1.
It was complete. A-N composite gondola that I am presenting building a load for since an empty gon is a boring gon...
