The truck side frames are of interest. The road name is that of an OGR participant, so no way for me to ask of their provenance.

Atlas made plastic Flexicoils for their SW series of locomotives - those plastic sideframes are what are on the diesel.

The Ironbound had been featured in an old issue of OST. I remember seeing a post from the builder saying he had disassembled the layout because of his age.

Yea his ebay auction confirms he is done:

The O Scale Ironbound RR is no more.
After 18 years of building it, we decided to move.
At my age, I am not inclined to build a new layout,

I didn't know he was done, so thanks for posting this. And I believe Atlas' SW1200RS came with the flexicoils iirc.

I don't usually post anything concerning the shenanigans people try to pull on ebay but this one is just too outrageous...even for me. It's obviously an old International import and there's no way it's a Lobaugh or was used at the 1939 World's Fair. I messaged the guy. Now I'm curious if he changes his listing. I'm will to bet he won't.

He's one of these guys that likes to use the term Rare in his listings. Always suspicious when sellers over use the term.

Si actually attended the Treasure Island Show. Right before he joined the Marines.

I truly hope somebody isn't suckered into buying the International.

That's interesting Jay. Now lets see if he tells the truth and lowers the price. Of course he is an "estate seller" so he knows everything about everything. Most likely bought it for a song and trying to make a killing.

Just an opinion - I believe the early Lobaugh Challenger in reasonable condition is around $650. I believe the International- As nice as it is - is half that.

I do know the later Lobaugh is bringing in around a grand - my info may be a bit soft, since I am no longer actively buying stuff.

If the guy really does have “offers” he will make a killing - nobody low-balls below half - do they?

Maybe he has fallen in love with it, but feels compelled to advertise it, for what ever reason. So you jack the price to unrealistic levels and that way you get to keep it. Ive seen that happen.

I was watching a pair of Lobaugh Challenger frames - I could always use the drivers, and at $50-60, they would be a good deal.
Today they jumped to $161, which is still under $30/axle - I suppose not bad for good Lobaugh drivers. But it saved me from another only marginally needed purchase.

I know/knew Andy from quite a while back, and he was 72 then. Probably in his 80's by now. His side business was selling RR slides on "Trainuttz.com"
