Unstable resin hits Ed Reutling models

I bought a couple of cast-resin treasures from Ed Reutling many years ago. I took some time to take them out and see how they're doing.

Unfortunately, even the great Ed's work has succumbed to what looks like unstable resin castings.

Below are an INT CF caboose that has warped sides and a roof that gained a giant bubble in it.

The SOU 40' boxcar with auto end-doors has a slightly warped side and a door that warped so bad it broke the hinges.

The boxcar may be salvageable, but I think the caboose is a lost cause. It's really a shame to possibly lose a piece he created.

No doubt about it, Ed was one of the Greats!

Totally agree on opinion of Ed. He was "old school" and direct, which kept him from being everyone's cup of tea, but he was loaded with talent and common sense. And willing to help anyone who asked for it. RIP.

It is a real shame the material didn't stand up to the test of time. Ed would be very upset knowing this.
