The diesel drive is correct, at least on some. My two NJCB GP30s have CLW drives.

Agree with Dave, here are some refugees from my geriatric project pile, what I’ve been told are a pair of NJCB GP-30 chassis with what look the CLW tank drive, previous owner discarded and replaced with MTH chassis.

The NJ’s hoods were the high nosed Southern/N&W version and he didn’t want to fuss with the DCC process. Ironically I’m contemplating bashing an MTH GP-30 shell onto one of these, maybe both if it’s not too hairy.

Not really well versed in anything beyond an SD9 - could you cut an SD35 body down to mate with these things?

Sarge tells me the GP-30 and 35 chassis are identical length, The SD-35 appears to have the same hood length as the GP-35 too albeit I'm not 100% sure about that.

I just double-checked mine as I had thought that they were tower drives, mine are the tank drives. Actually one is a nothing as years ago one of the gears split and I made it into a dummy.

The GP30 and GP35 are indeed the same length over the knuckles. That SD35 body I’m not too certain about, though. Remember there are two fans over the dynamic brake dissipation grids so they might be longer, hence that section might be longer.

Probably would be easier to put a Des Plaines GP9 shell on it - the steps from the frame up to the cab are part of the cab casting on the Des Plaines shell, IIRC. I think on the GP30 and GP35 shells the steps are part of the plastic frame, so you'd have to cut them off the plastic frame.

I'm just not sure if the GP9 used the same frame as the GP30.

Up through the GP20, the bolster centres are a foot less than on the GP30/35, but overall length is the same. The tank arrangements are very different, though, as are the battery and equipment boxes, so you get to decide whether you invest effort on pilots or tanks. Looks to me to be more readily a 30 or 35, really.

Hi there. I'll post some photos of different cars I have in separate posts to break it up a bit.

All of the cars were built by someone else but I was fortunate enough to buy or trade for them.

The first car looks like a built up kit. I traded a Weaver plastic round roof baggage car for this. It isn't exact for the N&W but has somewhat the look of one or two of the prototypes. It is different than other head end cars I have so it breaks things up a little in the train.

As always, if you want to comment, critique or whatever, please do. I welcome the good and the bad since I might be able to make improvements with the information.

This MAC SHOPS car I bought off of e-bay mostly as is. I added new trucks and the marker lights.

This car was sold as a Fischer car. I don't know and don't care if it is or not. It is good for an N&W Pg car. It is right at home in the Cavalier train.

This car also was sold as a Fischer car. It is good for an N&W De Dining car and perfect for the N&W Cavalier train. I wouldn't have bothered with the Cavalier train without the coach and this diner. It makes the train I've made up pretty close to the prototype.

Side 2 This car is not bowed but is just distorted in the photo.

Hopefully I can get a video up of the whole train in action soon.

Really nice Chris. I have this "thing" for Tuscan and Dulux. The nails on that baggage car appear to be the only flaw in the whole group. And even there it took a second to realize it was a model.

Thanks Bob. I noticed the pins also. I don't see them as much when simply viewing the layout so that project will be way down on the list.

Be sure to watch this video of the whole train including a bunch of imported head end cars.

Wow Chris impressive! I can pass on replacing escutcheon pins if they're not too obvious ( imo yours are not )
Great looking cars all, the Diner in particular looks like a modified Walthers D78. True? Metal sides?
I love that #2000 Mac Shops 10-6 too, these were beauties but wound up getting picked up by the PRR and converted into buffet coaches (really coaches with snack bars) I have two, one slated for the N&W's later blue scheme (sacrilege right?) and the other MP.
The coach is indeed a dead nuts match. Opinion, but you're in the running for best prototype match with these.
Thanks for posting.
