…….price seems a "tad" high unless it’s some fancy butt collectors item.

It is a tad high, but not completely out of the ballpark. I would give him a hundred bucks for it, and I don't even want another Lobaugh Challenger. $300 is probably in the proper range - no corrosion, and you get a spare Berk smokebox front. I bet it runs!

I think Stevenson has the proper smokebox front. They are not rare. A little work and a tender and you have a model that will bring a grand.

Quite frankly, I’m against people who give vent to their loquacity by extraneous bombastic circumlocution.

Go take another look. To bring it to the level of an average to good Lobaugh, you need a smokebox front, a trailing truck, and a coat of paint. It appears dead straight, with no other parts missing, and even good boiler bands. Super detailing might take two evenings - three, if you want lag clamps. I always re-do the cab with rivets, but then it is no longer stock Lobaugh.

Yes. I did not realize it ran. I personally would cough up $200 for something like that, and I already have way too many.

Me too, and not to question the piece's innate value as is or Bob's assessment thereof, but I'm still smiling on those "little work" and " a coat of paint" parts. Kudo's to the seller too.

Come now. You saw what I did with your brother's Challenger. This one would have been a lesser challenge. I have enough parts to knock out a tender in three days - it's just that I counted five of these (and a total of ten Lobaugh Challengers) around here. And I have fragments for an eleventh. That's why I wouldn't go over $200.
