Might be the camera, but sure looks like the rear of the chassis isn't lined up under the cab.
Front ladders gone..holes there. Boiler handrails short at smokebox...odd.
Didn't drill holes in cab roof for roof vent alignment pegs...so they're bent.
Is this one of those tender drives? Has a NWSL gearbox, so maybe motor in firebox.
Says test run and needs oil. Bets are it needs more than that.
Paint is flaked and chipped..see the front of the fireman's running board...and under the cab.
How hard is it to straighten the bell for a photo shoot?
Not sure with the lousy photos what that is behind the sand dome. Can't be a tiny dynamo, could it? In case the big one behind the steam dome quits suddenly?
Tender ain't bad looking except the back up light.

Looking at the rest of the listings, seller is not the owner or builder. Too bad for the owner relying on someone that cannot take a decent photo. The other stuff is overpriced as well.

Last time I saw photos like that was HS photography where we had the slowest, cheapest B&W film...

I get very suspicious when the photo shows the tender facing the wrong way with the loco. to me that means the seller has no idea what he is dealing with, has not idea of value, and has no idea of condition.

And I agree, it seems in some of the photos of the bottom, the whole body looks slightly mis-aligned on the frame.

And when you try to zoom in, you get the cheese cloth effect which hides everything as mentioned above. Is that stupidity or a studious effort to make it impossible to zoom in and see anything.

All in all, very suspicious.

But no, they aren't trying to hide anything. They want 325 which shows me they want to minimize "winner" observation and maximize profits!

When seller states runs but needs lube, where is the driveshaft coupler? How did it run? Cordless drill?

Photo of back of cab and / or front of tender would show us, but seeming purposeful endeavor to avoid that.

Look at the seller's other items -- this is not a person knowledgeable in model trains; probably just as stated - selling for a friend. That actually does happen and there actually are model railroaders that are totally clueless about selling on eBay.....or even using a computer.

Look carefully. Every shot is staged to NOT show the ends in question, even the shot with engine and tender they turned the tender around to show the back side.
Really questionable, even if seller is clueless.

Condition, 50-75 max.

I will be listing an Overland light Mikado USRA in January. Account is Feralinda. Dave should spot it, because I am starting it at the outrageous price of $650. Then we can have a long discussion.

I did comment on the compressed engine because of the damage.

I know enough about Varney, G-M and A-N steamers to be able to discuss them.
