Both. Although the four axle all welded tenders were selectively applied to sub-classes.

The clincher would be if the aluminum ones had strange sideframes like those.

Two folks wanted it badly, it went for $500.01 high bid with a $500.00 underbid.

Wasn't me. I would have jumped at it for $150, but doorstops are doorstops.

This is our fault - none of these sand castings were worth a hoot until Jim, Steve, Dennis, Stephen, Carey, and a few others started posting our finds on forums. We took an obscure corner of O Scale and gave it semi-legitimacy.

And I did not watch the All Nation Mountain or the CLW Northern - how did they do? They are semi-doorstops.

I find it strange. The winning bidder won by a penny.

JIm's column is brilliant -- first he collects the stuff, then he publishes articles about the stuff and then we all watch as the demand for that stuff shoots way up, increasing the stuff's value. Pure genius.

John Fisher wrote such articles too - as, of course, did I. Might be more of an internet phenomenon.

Well, it WOULD be pure genius if I SOLD everything now. But I think I'll wait until it's barely worth scrap value again.

Yes, it breaks what would otherwise be a tie, but the higher bid has to be submitted first.

Very possible on eBay if a bidder makes his max bid include a single penny amount. Bidding in odd amounts can be useful at times.

I understand what you are saying. The thing is eBay has bid increments. In the In the $500.-999.99 range that increment is $10.00. by that logic. The winning bid should be. $510.00. By making an off the wall bid with some strange amount of cents. You're trying to block the next guy's bid from falling into the needed bid increment.

Yup!

The problem with this logic??? is that you are NOT taking into consideration the timing of the bidding. Because of the way the bids were placed, the $500.00 bid was not the high bid of record when the $500.01 bid was made. The under-bidders max amount was not sitting at $500 when the winning bid was placed, and the $500.01 bid was more than enough to cover the bid increment at the time it was made, and ultimately one cent more than the hidden 2nd place high bid.
