Great fun at the March Meet ...always good folks and trains .
I was able to pick up a set of Joe Fischer cars to put behind the Niagara purchased last year at the show

or putting one on evilbait along with 20 that aren't.

A friend reported several sets at the current MM and on set sold for an average of $200 a car.....which I believe is a lot less than a few years ago. Extremely nice cars, especially considering their age...Fischer really knew how to build a stout car.

the train seemed quite happy to get some exercise.... even if only on a 48" radi ...

The history of the cars .... came from Mack Lowery collection ..he did have 600 Fischer cars ... roughly 20% of the world population .. Mack also ran his trains .. doubt all 600 Fischer cars were rolling at one time ..but he did run at home , the clothes shop , and his train museum .
Mack must have had 2 sets of the NYC smooth cars ..as in the 1955 MR article ... a sister Observation car is shown .

Yesterday I was going to fire up the Alexander GG1 to pull the Fischer Broadway cars ( previously posted photos of a set of PRR cars which I was very lucky to purchase photos found at viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16886&hilit=alexander ) This set of cars are earlier ...I found an ad in 1948 for Fischer showing one of the PRR cars ... early Fischer car were a bit more basic ... no interiors or lighting ...or you could add for extra $$$$.... so plain jane cars in the 35-40 range . by mid 50's Fischer catalog states interiors and lights no extra charge cars $ 75.00 + .... so cutting out the bottom feeders of the O scale world .

The GG1 does not like the 48" radi ..so it will have to wait till the 60" radi loop is up ... I'll fire up a K4 to pull the Fischer PRR string and post a link ...
Fun to play trains .....yes at MM there were a lot of Fischer cars .. 200-300 range ...Dan Pantera gave a nice talk about Fischer cars with sample wall construction for all to see ...very instructive .
