Understandable.

An era is over, but it lasted longer than I thought it would. Joe definitely deserves more personal time with the hobby if that is what he wishes. I am glad he helped me with a couple of projects awhile back. Hope he enjoys his second retirement, lol.

Maybe someone should write a little history on Joe, get some photos of his shop, etc and publish a nice little article. Maybe make it into its own little segment in OSR or OST. It's always interesting to learn more about the guys who have helped progress corners of this hobby, including the histories I've read about the bronze age of trains. Jay Criswell would be another interesting article I'm sure. As would Dan Pantera. I'm sure we could name these guys all day.

I agree. Just change. Joe has done a lot for a lot of people myself included at least 4 times now. I have always considered his work to be top notch and at a good, fair price that has also benefited the hobby overall. I'm hoping that others might step up some that have the tools and knowledge/skills in the future, but if not, Joe has at least taught many that it can be done, how to do it, and freely shared information and guidance to whoever has asked.

Nice guy for sure...and extremely well versed in machining as it applies to our trains. I too am thankful for the times he helped me. Time to work on his own projects is well deserved.
