who are our Icken aficionados?

Bob -- I have a good collection of catalogs and I believe Carey Williams does as well. I know Bob Turner owns at least one, I have a couple, and I believe Carey does as well. Many other people of course own one or more Ickens, and there are collectors that pay top dollar. But I don't believe the collectors I know of participate in this forum.

There is an Icken E6 on display in the 2-Rail portion of NK.

Bob - I have a number of Catalogs and other items and a box cab that I think is Icken. He started comercially in 1927 as the Ridgefield Shops and at one point in time the firm was known as Icken-Barker. What can we help you with?

Hello all thank you Bob for pointing out the lovely Icken E6 ...very nice piece ...Icken is top notch .... I've been very fortunate to acquire a few Icken pieces ... they run like Swiss watches ...Icken was thee builder if you wanted miles and miles of carefree use ...he supplied engines for many of the big public layouts of the 1930's, where the engine were excepted to run 8+ shifts ...( no change of crews) .





look I even got the side rods down .... Icken Hudson ..sucking juice from the outside 3rd rail ...like a proper steam engine should..

Don't know about your browsers, but my Firefox browser lead me to a youtube
video of a tin Zeppelin going around in circles...after a minute or so, I got dizzy
and bailed...did not see any Hudsons (or any other steam locomotives for that matter)!

Leaving Steve off the list was an oversight on my behalf. It is my understanding that Steve has an extensive collection of catalogs and I know he has a lot of nice models too. Ron Rosenberg also has an impressive collection of catalogs.

reason I ask is, I have a 3ring binder between Fred and, customer, Tony Ambrose full of correspondence.

Bob - I would be interested in having it, and others will likely have an interest. I was able to get 4 of Tony's cabooses in the sale after he passed away; I meant to get some of the reefers but never did.

Hello all....original Icken letters ...now that could be interesting. Please share the information.
...there is a certain collector out there who has a rough inventory as the the quantities of each engine built .....lets just say there are more Icken catalogs out there than engines.
Icken had some large commercial accounts for the various public layouts , some wealthy patrons , and a lot of folks who looked at the catalog with hopes of being rich one day.

Anyone have any ideas as to the where abouts of the 23 1/2" scale Icken models that were in the NYC Museum.of Science and Industry ....opened in 1936.....closed ?

I was reading some of the correspondence from Fred to Tony and it seems Fred did a lot of remotor and regearing of locomotives for Tony. he was like Jerry White and Stu Kleinschmidt.
